Congratulations to Rebecca Marks from Radstock in Bath who was crowned winner of the BAMM Re-Create Competition by a team of judges, headed up by Academy and BAFTA award winning makeup artist, Peter Swords King. Melanie Crump from The Bath Academy of Media MakeUp (BAMM) and Sam Thomson from The Body Shop joined Swords King on Saturday, 17th August to judge finalists from all over the region.
Rebecca wins a fantastic start to her future career with an Intense Media Makeup Course at BAMM worth £9,600 (including a fully comprehensive make up kit) PLUS £500 worth of product from The Body Shop and an exclusive goodie bag.
Second place went to Sharmilla Vythelingum also from Bath who wins a place on The BAMM Beauty Bridal & Fashion Makeup Course, worth £4,680 PLUS £300 worth of product from The Body Shop
Third place went Jade Muir from Filton in Bristol who received the BAMM Bridal Hair & Makeup Course PLUS £100 worth of product from The Body Shop.
Fourth place went to Claire Bender from Bath who received the BAMM One Day Workshop
All finalists were presented with The Body Shop goodie bags.
Winners were chosen from a total of 16 finalists who descended on Bath for the weekend, bringing with them a live model and unlimited creative ambition. Each had a total of three hours to re-create their selected designs and were judged not only on their interpretation of the brief, but also on technique, style and overall attitude.
Melanie Crump who runs BAMM, an elite private school for makeup artistry says; “The high standard was exceptional. It was amazing to see so many creative, technical advanced creations from people with no background in makeup. Imagine how far they could go with training, as they all had a natural gift.”
Bridget Woodard from Teenage Cancer Trust says “The BAMM Re-create competition has been a wonderful opportunity for people to come together to use their creative talents whilst raising vital funds and awareness for Teenage Cancer Trust. We would like to congratulate the Rebecca and indeed all finalists for their inspirational designs and imaginative use of the brief.
The money raised by this amazing competition will go towards supporting the 200 young cancer patients aged 16 to 24 diagnosed each year across the South West of England. We would also like to thank BAMM, Peter Swords King and The Body Shop for helping Teenage Cancer Trust to get one step closer to raising the final £1 million needed by 2014 to complete a state-of-the-art £2.5million unit in the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre, which is part of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.
