The 8th March not only saw a return to education across the UK but also saw the start of the much awaited Peter Swords King TV & Film Hair & Makeup Course, The  BAMM Fashion Course, headed by Gozra Lozano) and my (Melanie Weekley’s) Bridal Makeup and Hair Course;  oh and the Skin Camouflage Course. Needless to say, it has been a very busy 2 weeks indeed and I have just managed to catch my breath to fill you in on exactly what we have been up to over these past couple of weeks.

So, kicking off 2021 (albeit a little later than usual), we have a whole host of new students to introduce you to and they will be appearing each week in our Wednesday Welcome social media feature. I am very excited to say they are already proving to be a very talented bunch and there will be some fantastic work to feast your eyes on coming very soon 

The industry is picking up with great gusto and I will be keeping you up to date on our previous students’ progress in industry in out Tuesday Triumph social media feature.

Meanwhile back here at BAMM HQ covid safety measures are at the forefront of everyday life. Students are getting used to wearing visors, masks, temperature checking and sanitising all and everything they come into contact with throughout the day and I am pleased to say we have it nailed!

Some new additions have been added to our already extensive Peter Swords King Kits. The latest being the BAMM branded face maskssilicone makeup matsMAC- Art Library Designer Model eye shadow pallets, and a more extensive range of SFX sculpting and moulding tools, lip colours and lip pencils.

Teaching this term, we are welcoming back top West End Wiggy Designer and BAMM tutor Jo Smedley and new to the BAMM family, International Film & TV, SFX, Editorial, and all-round Beauty expert and educator Lolo Maja. We cannot wait to see what they have in store for our students this term!

At 10.00 on the first day of term we set straight to work, there was no messing about, it was makeup brushes out and we were off! – practicing Skin Camouflage with medical practitioner and MUA Sue Bardwell who departed her years of wisdom into a condensed one-day introduction course to Skin Camouflage Makeup (essential for any makeup artist starting out).  Since then, it has been non-stop; from getting to grips with hair styling and creating beautiful bridal chignons to mastering the basic rules of perfectly applied makeup for beauty and bridal and editorial work. Our students have been plucking, glueing, blending, contouring, highlighting, winging eyelines and on Friday 19th March showcased all they have learnt by transforming a friend or fellow classmate into a beautiful blushing bride on her wedding day.

This week we continue with fashion and editorial makeup and welcome tutors Sophie Moore, Lisa Caldognetto, followed by the T.W.O.K team; Lola Maja and Regina Meeson and then the main man of Fashion – Gozra Lozano.

Until the next time we look forward to proudly boasting the portfolios of work from our students to follow! x
