Peter Swords King


Peter Swords King


King Kong, Nanny McPhee, The Golden Compass, Pirates of the Caribbean, How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, Survivor, The Lovely Bones and Thunder Birds. Just some of the movies the brilliantly talented Peter Sword King has worked on to date. An Academy Award and BAFTA-winning makeup designer, Peter’s exceptional work on the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies has earned him more than 25 nominations to date, making him one of the most eminent makeup artists in the industry. As BAMM’s creative director, Peter is the senior tutor on our flagship course, the Peter Swords King Media Makeup Course.

Melanie Weekley

Melanie Weekley

Founder and Academy Principal, Melanie has over 18 years experience in the media industry and the contacts to show for it. In 2013, she launched BAMM, an exceptional training academy for aspiring media makeup artists, and the first of its kind in the South West. Key to her business model is a strong and diverse team of tutors, recognised makeup artists in their chosen field who want to pass on those skills and artistry to another generation. Alongside Peter Swords King, Melanie has built one of the most highly regarded media makeup academies in the world. Helping to deliver several courses across BAMM, Melanie works hard to ensure her students are as best equipped as possible for life beyond the classroom. “I am determined that each of my students goes on to fulfil and uphold their dream career in what is a very challenging industry. If a BAMM student completes their training here and leaves us confident, happy and ready for whatever path they wish to pursue, then we’ve done a good job.”

Gozra Lonzano

Gozra Lonzano

An acclaimed celebrity makeup artist, Gozra’s work in fashion, advertising, television and the music industry spans almost two decades. Part of the original MAC senior makeup artist team, he has worked with many of the iconic fashion houses, from Vivien Westwood and Givenchy to Calvin Klein and Alexander McQueen, and has created images for the pages of some the world’s most glamorous magazines including Marie Claire and American Vogue. Creative director and co-founder of the exciting new online digital platform Face4makeup, Gozra’s published photographic work is also currently on show at avant-garde art gallery, La Fresh Gallery, in Madrid. Here at BAMM, we are lucky enough to have Gozra as the tutor on our Fashion Makeup Course, as well as the Peter Swords King Media Makeup Courses.

Stacey Toulson

Stacey Toulson

With over 15 years experience in the beauty make up industry, Stacey’s passion is the perfect bridal makeup. Having ran her own bridal make up business, Stacey also worked as a make up trainer for an established makeup company here in the South West, delivering expert tutorship to both aspiring and established makeup artists.  She later went on to devise and write training materials for various post-graduate makeup courses, including a post-graduate make up course for the London College of Fashion. As well as delivering our highly popular Bridal Makeup Course, Stacey is also our highly competent Office Manager and oversees our busy BAMM Agency

Carol Robinson

Carol Robinson

With over 30 years of experience, starting with her early training at BBC Cardiff Television Centre, Carol learnt the art of wig making at renowned Bristol-based wig makers, Owen and King. Having gone on tour with Cher as her wig maker and wig dresser, Carol went on to work on Cher’s hit movie Burlesque. Carol’s career has also seen her create wigs for Geoffrey Rush’s character, Captain Barbossa, in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean and again for Cher in Mamma Mia 2. Having worked alongside accomplished actors such as Jack Nicolson, John Malkovitch and Michael Caine, Carol brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the BAMM Peter Swords King Media Makeup brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the BAMM Peter Swords King Media Makeup Courses.

Jacqui Russon

Jacqui Russon

Jacqui’s career spans over 20 years in the UK film and television industry and includes a stint working with the make up team on Bill Kenwright’s WWII feature, Another Mother’s Son, as well as  freelancing on BBC’s Casualty where she discovered a passion for SFX and prosthetics. Since then, Jacqui’s portfolio includes long-running BBC dramas such as Robin Hood, Lark Rise to Candleford and The Night Watch. Jacqui was also designer on highly acclaimed movie, Born a King. Jacqui teaches on the BAMM Peter Swords King Media Makeup Courses.

Fiona Maynard

Fiona Maynard

With over 20 years experience in the film and TV industry, Fiona’s career has taken her around the world working on the likes of The Dark Tower, Dragon, Dr Jeykll and Mr Hyde and ArchAngel with Daniel Craig. A sought-after member of the film hair and makeup community, Fiona’s passion is vintage styling and she showcases her work both on the catwalk and in the classroom as a tutor on the BAMM Bridal Hair Course.

Darren Longthorne

Darren Longthorne

Sculptor, master mould maker, professional model maker and prosthetics designer, Darren has spent over 25 years in film and TV. His impressive career includes working alongside The English National Ballet at Covent Garden and with Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s backstage teams on West End hits such as Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. Darren has enjoyed immeasurable success in film and television, his long list of credits including Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Coronation Street and BBC drama Bodies. His wealth of expertise makes him the ideal tutor for the popular BAMM SFX & Prosthetics Makeup Courses.

Gemma Nelson

Gemma Nelson

Having worked her way up from the age of fifteen as a junior in the local barbershop, Gemma spent 16 years perfecting her skill as an expert barber. Fascinated by hairstyles period hairstyles, she branched out into the world of TV and film, and currently works on prestigious BBC drama Call the Midwife. Gemma has also worked on the production of Lord Lucan and Silk and draws on her wealth of experience to now teach a new generation of students on the BAMM Barbering course.

Lisa Caldognetto

Lisa Caldognetto

Born and raised in London with Italian heritage, Lisa Caldognetto loved fashion from an early age and could often be found with her head buried in Vogue. After graduating, her talent for combining fashion and make up took her all over the world, working on the BAFTAS, WTAF, Fashion Awards, V Festival and London Fashion Week. Today, she brings her wealth of experience right into the BAMM classroom, where she helps deliver the BAMM Fashion Makeup Course.

Sophie Moore

Sophie Moore

A successful freelance hair and makeup artist, Sophie’s strength is fashion commercials and advertising. With experience working for luxury fashion brands Alexander McQueen and McQ, as well as ELLE, Vogue Italia and Harpers Bazzaar, Sophie’s clients also include high street heavyweights John Lewis, House of Fraser, Miss Selfridge, ASOS, Apple and Dyson. She brings all that experience to the BAMM classroom where she teaches the Fashion Makeup course.

Angela Williams

Angela Williams

Angela’s career in the UK film and television industry spans over 17 years and includes Channel 4’s long-running soap, Hollyoaks, dramas such as Shameless and Line of Duty and comedy series Fresh Meat (Jack Whitehall and Joe Thomas). Personal makeup artist to the stars, Angela also works at the prestigious National Television Awards and the Olivier Awards. Here at BAMM, she assists with script and character breakdown on several courses, including our Peter Swords King Media Makeup Courses.

Kirstie Stanway

Kirstie Stanway

With over 25 years experience in the industry, Kirsty has worked in all areas of the makeup industry, from acclaimed TV dramas Skins and Holby City to award-winning movies such as Little Voice, Velvet Goldmine and Sleepy Hollow. For the last seven years, she has been the series designer for BBC’s award-winning medical drama Casualty, and has helped many BAMM graduates secure trainee positions on set. A creative and enthusiastic tutor on our SFX and Prosthetics Makeup Courses, Kirsty’s passion shines through in the BAMM classroom.

Toyin Fajemirokun Onyolu

Toyin Fajemirokun Onyolu

Pharmacist and founder of the London-based cosmetics company TWOK – The Woman Of Kolor – Toyin is an expert in makeup for women of colour. With over 10 years of retail management experience under her belt, including stints for high-street heavyweights Boots, Asda, Walmart and Moss Chemist, she has extensive experience of working with MUAs across many genres. Here at BAMM, Toyin brings a unique element to our popular Peter Swords King Media Makeup Courses, where she gives students a tailor made insight into brand development and how to work with people of different skin tones, ethnicity, shade and texture. Perhaps most impressive of all, Toyin is also mum to not one but two sets of twins. Courageous, driven and aspirational, she’s the perfect role model for our students here at BAMM, and a valuable addition to our team.

Regina Meeson

Regina Meeson

With extensive experience in several award-winning hair salons, celebrity hairdresser Regina is an industry leader in styling, maintaining and looking after textured hair. With numerous nominations and accolades for her styling work, she travels the world working with celebrities, brands, TV and fashion catwalks showcasing the beautiful hair associated with men and women of colour. We’re proud to have her as part of our teaching team on the Peter Swords King Media Makeup Courses.

Kym Menzies

Kym Menzies

Kym is an editorial and celebrity makeup artist who specialises in makeup for people of different skin tones. With an impressive career spanning various genres, she is also an educator with many years of invaluable experience spent working with international celebrities, magazines, fashion and lifestyle brands and the prestigious MOBO Awards. Kym is perfectly positioned to assist on both our Peter Swords King Media Makeup Courses and our Fashion Makeup Course.

Linda A Morton

Linda A Morton

With over 20 years in the industry, Linda has made her mark in special effects and prosthetics working on mega blockbuster films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Finding Neverland and The Fifth Element. Her credits also include popular BBC and ITV dramas Waking The Dead, Judge John Deed and Witless. More recently, she has worked as makeup designer on the BBC’S new series Zomboat! and crowd room MUA on Netflix’s American fantasy drama, The Witcher. Personal MUA to The Crown actress Pennie Downie, when Linda isn’t working on gritty thrillers or designing gruesome injuries, she focuses on children’s television, commercials, pop promos, corporate and photographic work.
