Leap of Faith by Jana Lewis

Ever since I can remember I’ve dreamt of having a creative career doing something I love. I was never an academic child; I loved art and being creative. I worked hard at getting into the school of my dreams to study Art and Fashion design in Slovakia where I am originally from. After graduating I decided to come to the United Kingdom to Improve my English. Not long after I met my husband, fell in love and my life took a completely different direction. I put my dreams on hold to follow his.

I spent 13 years in hospitality, which was hard and soul destroying. 18 months ago we decided to sell the business and I found myself overjoyed at the idea of having a second chance. I didn’t feel like I wanted to pursue the fashion design anymore and makeup artistry was something I fantasised about for a long time. I started researching schools and course providers when I came across BAMM who stood out from all the other providers.

Excited, but a little scared if I am doing the right thing, I took a leap of faith and enrolled for The Peter Swords King Film and Television Makeup Course. The course was fantastic, tutors of a high calibre and the perfect length for me, having two children.

Since completing the course in December I have done a couple of photoshoots, a couple of short student films and promo videos and set up my website. I am super excited about my new career and the new exciting opportunities that the future holds for me. It just goes to show it’s possible if you are determined enough. It’s never too late to learn and never too late pursue your dreams. So when life presents you with a second chance, don’t waste it, grab it with both hands and just go for it.
