Why choose The Bath Academy of Media Makeup?

So, why BAMM? Since opening our doors in 2012, our reputation for turning out exceptionally skilled hair and makeup artists has become renowned within the film television, theatre, fashion and beauty industry. Our mission is to provide our students with exceptional and relevant training. Our courses encompass all the necessary skills to become a professional makeup artist and are taught by industry professionals chosen for their specialist knowledge. We continually strive to improve on what we do. In doing so, we commit to staying up to date with the latest makeup brands, trends and skills so that we can pass them onto our students. We make sure, first and foremost, that our tutors are at the top of their game and currently working within the industry. After all, these tutors are your contacts for work and trainee placements.

One of the highlights of the Peter Swords King TV and Film Hair & Makeup Course, and many of our other courses, is undoubtedly the kit! The Peter Swords King kit comes complete with your very own Zuca trolley. This certainly is the most extensive professional kit we can provide for our students. The BAMM kit contains all the leading brands together with a high-quality airbrush compressor and makeup brush set – pictures of the kit and itemised contents can be found under The Kit on the FAQ.

Peter Swords King will often pop by, when he is not away filming, to see how our students are getting on. Sometimes these visits are unannounced, which throws the class into a bit of a flap, but his fun and friendly personality leaves everyone feeling enthusiastic and inspired.

These days we are inundated with online tutorials of how to apply makeup and create a look. This is all well and good if you just want to ‘dabble’ in makeup for yourself and friends. However this form of teaching will NEVER carry you through to work as an experienced makeup artist within the industry. There is far too much to learn, hands on, with guidance from our expert tutors. You need to learn about continuity, set etiquette and to be familiar with the language and terminology used whilst working on set. You need to learn how a production is put together, understanding the hierarchy and layouts of the various departments and how to work your way up the ladder.

Our classes are kept to an intimate and small number to maximize student-tutor time. We are really friendly, with a fantastic team, who are all there to help our students get the most from their training. We are thrilled to have been awarded a BAC accreditation as very few training schools hold this acknowledgement. Alongside this accolade, we are the only academy in the UK to receive preferential treatment from both MAC and Bobbi Brown, giving our students professional makeup seminars and discount days.

Our business module is something we take very seriously. We bring in experts to talk you through how to set yourself up in business, the ins and outs of tax, how to invoice, how to promote yourself and how to use social media to its best advantage.

We love what we do and really feel we go the extra mile, not just in teaching makeup skills, but also our help with you obtaining work and that extends for as long as you need us afterwards.

Please come and visit us, see for yourself why BAMM should be your choice of where to train.
